ITE ( In The Ear ) Hearing Aids
“In The Ear” hearing aids can be very small and discrete or they can be bigger and more powerful. They can be automatic, or we can give you control of the volume, program, and pitch balance.
Each hearing aid is a single unit which often makes it easier to insert into the ear for people with poor dexterity.
Some of them are also rechargeable, and can be connected to your smart phone, as well as various accessories, to enhance the listening experience. Different colours are available.
The main disadvantage of “In The Ear” hearing aids is they can cause something called the occlusion effect. This means internal sounds such as your own voice and your own chewing can sound very loud. For some people the occlusion effect is stronger than others. This can usually be predicted from your hearing test results. Therefore we will advise you during your appointment if this model is suitable for you.
